Mr. Jiwei (Alec) Xu is currently a senior associate, senior project manager, class I registered architect of China in the Shanghai office of Arquitectonica. He studied Architecture at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, receiving a double bachelors degree in Architectural Engineering and Business Administration.
During more than 12 years in architectural practice his design work has included high-level, high-rise office buildings, hotels, cultural facilities, retail centers, transportation hub and residential apartments. He has participated in the design of a total construction area of more than 5 million square meters, with over 3 million square meters already under construction or completed.
Mr. Xu has valuable experience in the coordination of East-West cultural differences, with the fusion of western design concepts and China’s native culture.
As project manager and project architect of Riviera Twin Star Square - Shanghai, he was responsible for the coordination of an international design team, overseeing the implementation and control of the completion of the works. This dramatic building with regional and cultural design characteristics was in the final list of the CTBUH best tall building category in Asia & Australasia 2011.
