Carlo Segato has significant experience in structural design at international level, mainly acquired as direct assistant to Prof. Franco Mola at ECSD (2007-15, Italy), designing major cable-stayed bridges at Leonhardt Andrä und Partner (2015-17, Germany) and joining INGEGNERI SPP SA (2017-Present, Switzerland).
His portfolio includes tall buildings, bridges of any size, seismic design and retrofit, buildings of any type, interventions on the existing, artificial tunnels, underground works, railway infrastructures, site supervision and noteworthy experimentations on materials, components and constructions.
In the field of high-rise he gave his main contribution as project manager and designer’s representative on site for the detail design and construction supervision of the Allianz Tower in Milan, the Italian tallest building to the roof at 207 m, equipped with external dampers to mitigate wind vibrations. He participated as well to the CTBUH research project on damping technologies and to the one dedicated to skybridges.
In the bridge sector he has been responsible for undertaking design, checking or assessment tasks across a wide range of both new and existing structures, covering all the design phases. Concerning long-span bridges, in particular, he took part in the following projects at LAP: Obhur Creek Bridge (UAE), New Champlain Bridge (Canada), Mersey Gateway (UK), Danjiang Bridge (world’s longest single-tower asymmetric cable-stayed bridge - Taiwan), Gordie Howe Int. Bridge (USA-Canada).
In 2017, in appreciation of his professional results, the Fédération Internationale du Béton bestowed him a special mention at the “Achievement Awards for Young Engineers” in the “design and construction” category.
