About

Eleonora Lucchese, structural engineer, graduated from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in April 2014.

Her thesis entitled, “Alternate Structural Systems and Materials for High-Rise Building Sustainability Analysis,” was developed while working with her adviser, Abbas Aminmansour, as a research assistant at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).

Eleonora previously published “Steel Blast Wall Analysis: Corrugated Steel Sheets Behavior Comparisons and Optimization of Supporting Frames,” a conference proceeding for “XXIV Giornate Italiane della Costruzione in Acciaio” held in Turin (Italy), October 2013.

Since summer 2014, Eleonora has been involved in the CTBUH Research Division’s test program for optimizing concrete-encased steel megacolumns, sponsored by ArcelorMittal.
