Ian is currently a Director at Rise Management Consulting. He joined Rise in 2011 after his time at Mace Limited.
He was formerly the Managing Director for the Construction Management and Mace Living sectors of the Mace Limited construction business until 2011. Ian was with Mace beginning in 1993 working on many prestigious projects in Mace’s 20 year history. He secured Mace’s biggest single contract The Shard of Glass in the London Bridge Quarter development, and set about building a residential business within the construction sector called Mace Living. This comprised Hotels, Private and Public housing and Student Accommodation projects, as well as managing the day to day management of some of Mace’s most prestigious current projects including, The Tate Modern, The British Museum and Café Royal, to name but a few.
Ian’s formative years were spent as an engineer at Tarmac Construction, moving to Bovis in 1988 on the ‘Phase II’ Exchange House project at Broadgate, followed by complex projects at Ludgate and Heathrow Airport. Ian has led some major accounts recently including The Royal Bank of Scotland, More London and Land Securities, covering major shell and core commercial buildings, residential towers and complex fit outs from Edinburgh to London. Ian secured our interest in Hong Kong and Macau, with the set up and commencement of the first major construction management project in Macau, China, creating the Joint Venture with Hsin Chong to deliver one of the Worlds largest Casino complexes in the World for The Las Vegas Venetian company.
At 36 years old, Ian was the youngest winner of the prestigious Construction Manager of the Year Award in 2000, beating off competition from the many ‘millennium’ projects. This profile attracted the attention of various Television companies, amongst others; Ian hosted ‘Streets Ahead’ with Sarah Beeny.
