About
Irina Susorova joined the CTBUH as a research assistant in the summer 2012. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the College of Architecture, at the Illinois Institute of Technology researching optimization of building energy consumption, building energy modeling, and sustainable design technologies. As part of her doctoral research, awarded the Wanger Institute for Sustainable Research (WISER) Interdisciplinary Seed Funding Grant for 2011, Irina investigates how plants integrated into building facades (green walls) affect building energy consumption. Her research evaluates the sensitivity of energy consumption to multiple green wall parameters and quantifies energy savings in buildings using green walls. Additionally, Irina coordinates research optimizing fenestration parameters for building energy performance, awarded the WISER Interdisciplinary Seed Funding Grant for 2010.
Irina earned her B. Arch in 2005 from the Saint Petersburg University of Technology and Design in Russia and M. Arch in 2007 from the Illinois Institute of Technology. She designed residential, hotel, office, and mixed-use high-rise building projects in Chicago and Dubai for Lucien Lagrange Architects and Adrian-Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. Her main interest is energy-efficient building design, facade design, analysis of building energy performance, and sustainable technologies. She also holds Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED AP) accreditation.
