John Rankine

About

John Rankine was elected as the Chairman of the Council for a three-year term in July, 1982. He came from a diverse background of education and experience. During World War II, he served five years with the A.I.F. then came home to earn his bachelor of engineering degree at Sydney, Australia. He received an MS in Building Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an ME in traffic and transportation engineering from the University of California.

Mr. Rankine was employed as a design engineer in London, and in 1950 returned to Australia, becoming a partner in the firm of Stanley and Llewellyn. In 1955, he and Mr. J.A. Hill formed the firm of Rankine and Hill, Pty. Ltd.

In addition to being the Chairman of the Council, Mr. Rankine was a fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Austalia, a Federal Councillor and a Member of the Sydney Division Committee of this Institution. He was…
