About
Judith Dupré's works of illustrated nonfiction investigate architecture, engineering, and history in ways that delight and educate readers, especially those who profess “not to know much” about buildings. Her award-winning books have been published in eleven languages and include Skyscrapers, A History of the World’s Most Extraordinary Buildings; Bridges; the New York Times bestseller Churches; and Monuments: America's History in Art and Memory. She is currently writing the authorized biography of the new World Trade Center, to be published by Little, Brown in Spring 2016. As a project facilitator, Dupré has enabled design consensus on several large-scale infrastructure projects, including the I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis and the California High-Speed Rail Project. From 1987 to 1990, she was part of the Olympia & York team that developed the World Financial Center/Brookfield Place. Dupré received English and Studio Art degrees from Brown University, and studied at the Open Atelier of Design and Architecture in Manhattan. A named scholar and fellow of Yale University, she holds a Master of Divinity from Yale, with an emphasis on the ethics of architecture and community building. She serves on the boards of Faith & Form, a quarterly journal devoted to interfaith architecture, and Project Rebirth, which, since 2002, has recorded the World Trade Center’s rebuilding with time-lapse photography.
