About

Klaus Kastbjerg is the chief executive officer of Union Holding A/S. After starting a design firm in 1974, he graduated from the Copenhagen Business School in 1978. Beginning in the mid-1980s, he began buying properties around Copenhagen, focusing on older industrial buildings in waterfront districts that showed potential for transformation. These include The Silo, a conversion of a grain silo into a residential building, and THEKRANE, a private retreat, spa and meeting room in the control cab of a former coal crane.

β€œI have always had a soft spot for vacant buildings and sites where you find more pigeons than human beings,” Kastbjerg says. β€œIt is very often the case that old industrial buildings are in desperate need of restoration. I have been so fortunate to work with extremely competent people to restore and transform these buildings.”
