Koz Sowlat is a structural engineer with expertise in the design of tall buildings. Sowlat has a Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree, both in Structural Engineering, from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Sowlat began his career with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Chicago, in 1980. In the early 90s, Sowlat, while with Epstein, served as chief structural engineer for McCormick Place South Hall and for Midway International Airport, both in Chicago. In the mid-90s, Sowlat served as director of structural engineering at Perkins + Will, Chicago. From 1997 to 2003, Sowlat served as a Principal with Thorton Tomasetti, Chicago. In 2004, Koz Sowlat and Rob Diebold established Sowlat Structural Engineers, Chicago, providing structural engineering for buildings. Sowlat Structural Engeers provides structural engineering for tall buildings, including the 49-story, 465 North Park Drive, Chicago, completed 2018; and 43-story, The Collection, Honolulu, completed 2017.
