Koz Sowlat is a structural engineer with expertise in the design of tall buildings. Sowlat has a Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree, both in Structural Engineering, from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Sowlat began his career with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Chicago, in 1980. In the early 90s, Sowlat, while with Epstein, served as chief structural engineer for McCormick Place South Hall and for Midway International Airport, both in Chicago. In the mid-90s, Sowlat served as director of structural engineering at Perkins + Will, Chicago. From 1997 to 2003, Sowlat served as a Principal with Thorton Tomasetti, Chicago. In 2004, Koz Sowlat and Rob Diebold established Sowlat Structural Engineers, Chicago, providing structural engineering for buildings.
