Liwen Kang has been with the CTBUH since November 2014 as a student intern. She joined the Council as a full-time staff member on the Production & Publications team after she graduated in May 2016. She works on the organization and coordination of various production needs for the Council.

Liwen spent five years studying Urban Planning at Northwest University in China and got a bachelor's degree in 2012. After one year of practical experience at Atkins (Shanghai) and AECOM (Shanghai), Liwen started her new life at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). She earned a Master's Degree of Landscape Architecture in 2016. During her time at IIT Chicago, she gradually found her interests in tall buildings, urban environments, and green infrastructures. She took part in many volunteer initiatives in her spare time. She was also awarded the Honor Award by the Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architecture (ILASLA) in May 2016, which is the highest award for graduate students.
