About

Malcolm Middleton was appointed Queensland Government Architect in July 2011 after a wide ranging 30 year career in private practice. He holds an honours degree in architecture from Sydney University and a masters degree in Urban Design from QUT.

In the role of Government Architect he is an advocate for better design outcomes across Government, Local Government and the private sector. He chairs the Queensland Urban Design and Places Panel and chaired the Premiers Roundtable on the Cultural Precinct. He also sits on a number of specific design review panels including the Brisbane Airport Design Development Integrity Panel. He was recently appointed to the Prime Minister Official Residences Advisory Committee.

He is former member of the Queensland Heritage Council, a past president of the Property Council in Queensland and served for 7 years on the South Bank Design Advisory Panel.
