Meysam Tabibzadeh started working with the CTBUH as a research assistant in January 2013. He currently works as a building performance and life cycle analyst. He is also a PhD Candidate at Illinois Institute of Technology, College of Architecture. His research focus area is mainly building performance and analysis, daylighting, energy modeling and calculations, sustainable technologies in building systems and integrated controls.

Working in the area of building performance and energy efficiency, in 2010 Meysam (together with two fellow candidates) conducted a research project funded by WISER (Wagner Institute of Sustainable Energy Research) Seed Funding, optimizing fenestration parameters to improve energy performance in commercial buildings. He is also the co-author in the paper regarding the same topic in the journal “Energy and Buildings” being published early February 2013. In addition, Meysam is the winner of the 2011 student award by International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) education trust, for studying in the area of daylighting and building efficiency.

Meysam received his M. Arch. Degree from Iran University of Science and Technology in 2004, followed by 3 years of Architectural practice in various areas, including the design of schools, residential and commercial buildings. Moving to Sweden in 2007, Meysam started studying for his Master’s in Architectural Lighting Design (M. ALD) at KTH (Royal Institute of Technology), in Stockholm, Sweden. He then started both as a teaching assistant and researcher after graduating in 2009, publishing papers in CIE and Clima conferences about daylighting as well as the project book on lighting design for historical buildings (2009-2010). He moved to Chicago in 2010 to start his PhD at IIT, working on daylight integration in commercial buildings for energy saving purposes as his dissertation.
