Peter started his career in 1970 as an apprentice to the Express Lift Company (the largest UK lift company of that era). Progressing through ranks to management level over ten years, in conjunction with further education via Salford Technical College and Bolton Institute of Technology, having studied Control Systems, Industrial Electronics and Computer Programming.

Co forming D&B (specializing in Lifts and Escalators/VT) in 1981 the consultancy has grown from two people to fifty people based in thirteen locations. D&B project involvement represents a cradle to grave experience as the consultancy is involved in all aspects of the design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance of buildings or entire portfolios. Over many years Peter has promoted the concept of Destination Controls for VT systems and many projects have embraced Double Deck or Twin systems. Peter has been an Expert Witness in criminal and commercial cases associated with VT matters.

Peter has taken a great interest in Lift Traffic Analysis and has moved with time of computerization, indeed Peter is the proud owner of an Osborne One but has reluctantly moved on to a suite of other modern devices.
