Mr. Ramy El-Khoury is a Civil Engineer with 21 years’ experience since graduation in 1992. He holds a Bachelor in Civil Engineering (BEng) and a Masters’ Degree (MSc) in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics from Imperial College, London.

He joined Rafik El Khoury & Partners in 1993. He is now a Director and Associate of the Company. He is also responsible for the Company’s UAE and Saudi Arabia offices in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer.

He is a Member of the following professional institutions:

Institution of Civil Engineers (UK)
Institution of Structural Engineers (UK)
American Concrete Institute (ACI)
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

He is also Registered with the Engineering Council, United Kingdom, as Chartered Engineer (CEng)
Lebanon Country Representative for The Council For Tall Buildings and the Urban Habitat (CTBUH)

Mr. El- Khoury represents Lebanon in the RELEMR Program (Reducing Earthquake Losses in the Eastern Mediterranean Region) since 1998 sponsored by UNESCO, United States Geological Survey, Council of Europe and European Mediterranean Seismic Center grouping 40 scientists from 20 countries. Responsible for the Working Group on the RELEMR ground shaking hazard maps and their applications.

He is a Member of the Global Alliance for Disaster Redution.

He was appointed Leader representing Lebanon for the EMME – Earthquake Model of the Middle East region: Hazard, Risk Assessment, Economics & Mitigation. It will constitute a regional application of the GEM (Global Earthquake Model with linkages to EU FP7 SHARE and EU FP6 NERIES projects.

In December 2003, he was also appointed by National Commission of UNESCO, Lebanon, to participate at the Living with Risk: Seismic Hazards, Insurance and Sustainability in the Mediterranean Region organized by NRIAG, UNESCO Cairo office, USGS… in Cairo, Egypt.

He has lectured on Earthquake Engineering and related topics in many international workshops and conferences in Europe, North Africa, Middle East and the United States.
