About
In her role at Peddle Thorp Architects as Project Leader, she leads a range of projects in Residential, Civic and Education, as well as Mixed-Use typologies, and development of innovative models. Sofie sits on the Integrated Living Advisory Board, is a Founder of Align Robotics, a Construction Technology Company (automating BIM to Building Construction Layouts), and most recently is involved in the Committee for Brisbane (CFB) Olympics & Paraolympics working group - 'Brisbane 2033: Our Olympics and Paralympics Legacies'.
From an architectural design background, Sofie has experience working across a range of building typologies - from Multi-use spaces (Mixed), Residential, Retail, Commercial to Health, Education & Urban - at all building life cycles (new, refurbishment, alterations, repurposing) and across a range of geographies and urban densities. Her project experience spans myriad of stages: from concept inception, planning, master planning, design, to the delivery of residential, retail, mixed-use, education and urban development projects. With an accumulative project portfolio in excess of $100M AUD. Thus far, her clients have included Not-For-Profit Organisations, Government Agencies, Builders, and Top-Tier Private Clients - some of which have been Blue Chip Australian Companies (BlueCHP, Charter Hall, Consolidated Property Group, Brisbane Housing Company).
Sofie works with clients to deliver high quality design outcomes that push the limits, across the full suite of building projects. Her work is informed by empirical evidence and research, which is underpinned by continuous and rigorous improvement. She seeks the best outcomes for not only the client, but also the end user (now and into the future), with a commercial and inclusionary view toward the process.
Long before working in the Building & Construction sector, Sofie had been exposed to latest innovations in Tall Building Construction during her formative years - traveling extensively throughout Europe & Asia Pacific during major construction & technology booms (90s, 2000s) left a lasting imprint; a thirst for knowledge, learning, striving for continual improvement, innovation & pushing boundaries. Her focus is on inclusivity & diversity - with a cultural adaptability gained during her time living abroad in her formative years (Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong), which she continues to garner in her working life.
Pringle is finalising a Research Project at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, with her Supervisors Associate Professor Dr. Severine Mayere and Dr. Mirko Guaralda, which is titled 'Finding Urban Happiness: A method for measuring emotional responses to Urban Environment Stimulus utilising Big Data & Social Representations Theory". In simple terms, the project has developed a conceptual framework to measure emotional response that individuals have to urban environments and their design elements. The research project builds upon a pilot study that identified the environmental relationship that humans have with their setting - the project was shortlisted nationally in 2018 for the Australian Urban Design Awards, and in 2019 for the Minister’s Award for Urban Design.
She has experience in guest lecturing at QUT and has presented at the International Urban Design Conference in 2018 on the topic of designing for happiness. In the past, Pringle was the Head of Community Engagement for the period of 2015-2017 for the Gold Coast Junior Chamber of Commerce (GCJCC). The organisation grew in membership base from 40 to over 150, and she was instrumental in forming and securing alliance partnerships with Livin’ and other charitable causes for the organisation.
