About Jean Claude Gerardy

Jean-Claude (JC) Gerardy is a structural engineer from the University of Liege in Belgium. He started his career in ArcelorMittal research department from 1990 (formerly ARBED research). During that time, he was involved in the Eurocodes on steel and composite structures. He was involved in originating two major CTBUH research projects: “A Whole Life Cycle Assessment of the Sustainable Aspects of Structural Systems in Tall Buildings” and “Study on the Constructability and the Engineering Properties of Composite Megacolumns.”

From 1993 to 1997, he moved to New York as resident engineer for promoting steel in high-rise buildings in North America. He was also representing ArcelorMittal within ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), AWS (American Welding Society), AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) and the SSPC (Steel Shapes Producer Council).

About Jean Claude Gerardy

He was involved in originating two major CTBUH research projects: “A Whole Life Cycle Assessment of the Sustainable Aspects of Structural Systems in Tall Buildings” and “Study on the Constructability and the Engineering Properties of Composite Megacolumns.”

From 1993 to 1997, he moved to New York as resident engineer for promoting steel in high-rise buildings in North America. He was also representing ArcelorMittal within ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), AWS (American Welding Society), AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) and the SSPC (Steel Shapes Producer Council).

From 1997 to 2000, he came back to Europe as sales manager of long products in the Eastern Countries, Middle East, Africa and India. After being general manager of the e-business platform for the distribution network of ArcelorMittal, he joined ArcelorMittal International Singapore in 2003 as Mill Sales Director for the Far East.

In 2005, he moved to Istanbul as Managing Director in charge of the sales of ArcelorMittal in the Near East. In 2007, he worked on high-rise buildings in all the CIS countries. In 2008, he moved to Morocco to be the CMO of two rebars and wire rods mills of ArcelorMittal.

Thanks to his international career and involvement in high-rise buildings over more than 20 years, he is currently responsible for the promotion, marketing and sales of ArcelorMittal sections in tall buildings all-over the world.
