D. Kirk Harman, PE, SE, SECB, FACI is President and Managing Principal of The Harman Group. He is responsible for all aspects of the operation of the company, which he co-founded in1984.
Under his leadership, the firm has provided structural engineering services for numerous tall building projects such as the Revel Resort and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ as well as the SLS International Hotel and Residences in Philadelphia, PA.
Mr. Harman is active in various professional organizations. He is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute, and has served on several of their committees, including Committee 318, Building Code Requirements, as well as Subcommittees 318-G, Prestressed Provisions and 318-H, Seismic Provisions. He is a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction and serves on its Committee for The Code of Standard Practice.
He is also a past board member of the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) and serves as the Chair of the Code Advisory Subcommittee on Special Inspections/Quality Assurance, and is a past President of the Structural Engineers Association of Pennsylvania. He is an active board member and past President of the Delaware Valley Association of Structural Engineers.
Mr. Harman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College and a Master of Science degree in Structural Engineering from Drexel University. He holds licenses in over 30 jurisdictions, and is certified by the Structural Engineers Certification Board.
