As a Principal and Director of Safdie Architects’ Singapore office, Charu Kokate leads the firm’s efforts in South Asia. Working closely with Moshe Safdie and a core team of leaders, Charu translates the overarching design intent of projects from initial concept through construction. She is responsible for guaranteeing the balance of design goals, quality construction, and budget and schedule delivery for each project. As the daily point of contact for clients, contractors, and global consultants, she is a tireless advocate for successful project implementation.

In 2007, Charu moved to Singapore from Boston to design and oversee the construction of the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort and the Sky Habitat residential tower development in Singapore.

Charu as Project Director of Jewel Changi Airport headed the design integration and construction of the iconic project that has redefined air travel experience.

Currently Charu is supervising the design and construction of multiple projects: ‘Boulevard 88 | The EDITION Singapore’ - a new luxurious residential tower and boutique hotel along Singapore’s famed Orchard Road; the new Surbana Jurong Global Headquarters and flagship development of the Jurong District Eco-Garden in Singapore; and the Altair Residences, a new 69-story residential tower in Columbo, Sri Lanka.

In 2011, Charu was awarded Singapore’s President’s Design Award as part of the team for the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort.
