About
Ian joined F+P at Chek Lap Kok Airport in Hong Kong where he was part of the site team delivering the project. Returning to London, he took part in and oversaw several commercial and residential, mixed use projects within the city and the UK generally. From integrating Bishops Square into the existing market at Spitalfields, before it became Allen & Overy’s headquarters, to F+P's second tall building in the City for British Land and their tenant, Willis, at 51 Lime St; developing the masterplan for New Covent Garden Market's wholesale reorganisation of their operations to allow a continued future on their 26 acre site in Nine Elms, and; gaining planning permission for what was at the time Europe's tallest residential project, the 63 storey City Pride residential tower at Canary Wharf.
As the practice has developed its portfolio further afield Ian has overseen two projects in the middle east: the New Head Office for SAMBA Bank at the King Abdullah Financial District, Riyadh and; the commercially led mixed-use development for ICD-Brookfield in the Dubai International Financial Centre. In parallel, he continues to oversee the Quartermile Project in Edinburgh where two new residential buildings are in planning for a site immediately adjacent to the category A listed Bryce Building, the original infirmary building on the site.
An increasing involvement in tall buildings in all sectors throughout Ian’s career has combined with a core interest in design, engineering and the making of things. He has a long Interest in the visual arts and crafts generally and enjoys his life in London with its superb access to theatres, galleries and other events.
