Dr. Ibrahim M. Metwally, is a professor of concrete structures at the Concrete Structures Research Institute at the Housing and Building National Research Center, Cairo, Egypt. He holds B. Sc., M. Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in structural engineering. Experienced in both the academia and industry fields. His research interests include ultra-high-performance concrete, the performance of structures exposed to extreme loading, large-scale experimental testing, the behavior of concrete structures reinforced with FRP composites & analysis, and the design of tall buildings. He has been heavily involved in structural design, performance-based seismic design/assessment, retrofitting, and testing. Dr. Metwally is also a committee member of the well-known international design code ACI 369.1-17 ( Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Concrete Buildings).
