Tim is Currently the CEO of the Committee for Sydney which has global companies and Australian Icons (such as the Opera House) in membership working together to develop innovative policy for Australia's only global city. He also is a part-time Principal with Arup, the global consultancy.

Before coming to Australia in late 2010 Tim had been an MD of a consultancy team specialising in housing, urban regeneration and policy for cities. Between 2005 and 2010 he served a succession of UK Cabinet Ministers as a special advisor. Bteween 1998 and 2003 , he was CEO of the Thames Gateway London Partnership which had played a formative role in bringing key infrastructure to East London and ultimately the Olympics . Tim advised the CEO of Lend Lease in the UK on the Olympic Athletes Village and a number of the local councils on their strategies to leverage a legacy for their communities from hosting the Games. In 2003 Tim was named by his peers as the leading personality in urban regenration in the UK. Between 2000 and 2010 Tim had a weekly column in the leading professional journal Regeneration and Renewal.

Tim had also been a specialist advisor to the Welsh Regeneration Minister and chaired the task and finish group which led to the creation of the Centre for Regeneration Excellence Wales(CREW). He also was a member of a ministerial inquiry in Wales into improving school performance.

Since arriving in Australia Tim has written a number of influential reports - 'Homes for All' on housing supply for the McKell Institute and 'Connecting Communities' (for Huawei) on the impact and uses of high speed broadband:he has since written digital strategies for 5 public bodies/councils in Australia. He has also advised the Federal Housing Minister. He is a board member of the leading community housing provider, Compass Housing.
