William Sharples is a founding principal of SHoP. He applies a background in engineering to more than 20 years of industry leadership in design and master planning, working in complex, urban contexts to create dynamic projects that transform communities. Sharples holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University. His SHoP projects include New York City’s East River Waterfront, the Botswana Innovation Hub in Gaborone, Collins Arch in Melbourne, Atlassian HQ in Sydney, Hudson’s Site in Detroit, and a portfolio of long-term high-profile work around the world as the recipient of a Design Excellence contract with the State Department’s Bureau of Overseas Building Operations (OBO).
