Wolfgang Werner is leader of the Building Sustainability practice for the East U.S. Region. He has more than 15 years of experience in sustainable design concepts, architectural design, construction administration, and building investigation. He has extensive knowledge of sustainable building strategies and technologies, the suite of LEED rating systems, and building codes, standards, regulations related to green building, and has acted as building sustainability consultant on a wide range of projects. In addition, he is experienced in forensic building investigations and building code analysis and has testified in depositions related to these issues.

Wolfgang was instrumental in launching Thornton Tomasetti’s corporate sustainability initiatives, such as establishing a LEED accreditation support structure, implementing sustainable office operations, coordinating Thornton Tomasetti’s work to adopt the AIA 2030 Commitment and developing design tools aimed at reducing the carbon impacts of the firm’s engineering portfolio.

Wolfgang is a licensed architect in New York, and a member of the American Institute of Architects and the New York Urban Green Council. He is also a regular speaker at various conferences that in recent years included the Greenbuild and NY Green Buildings. He holds a Dipl.-Ing. degree in architecture from the Technische Universität, Berlin, Germany and a master’s degree in architecture from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York.
