Robin Cheeseright has been in the vertical transportation and facade access industries for nearly 30 years. At Otis, he progressed through the organisation to senior management positions, which required involvement in all aspects of lift and escalator sales, manufacturing, installation and servicing. Through senior operational and staff roles – commercial, service and marketing management, Robin was responsible for the commercial aspects of delivering and maintaining many complex projects onto the business’s maintenance portfolio. In addition, he consulted on, and in many cases was responsible for launching global products and services into the UK and Irish market. Robin participated in establishing the Otis University and was also part of the team that developed Otis.com, which helped significantly improve the service offering of Otis.
As one of the founding partners of D2E, Robin has been instrumental in growing D2E into an internationally recognised consultancy that has a proven track record in the design of VT and façade access solutions for complex and tall buildings. Robin has been influential in the design of the type of bespoke servicing contracts these types of buildings require. This has been achieved through a clear understanding of the Clients’ requirements, an approach that supports the design of the building and an empathy with client teams. To facilitate the growth of D2E, Robin has been enthusiastic in supporting the training and development of a culturally diverse group of individuals into a dynamic consultancy that brings fresh ideas to vertical transportation and façade access design, and a clear understanding of the long-term requirements of building users.
Robin is an active participant within CTBUH, being Chair of the VT Working Group, supporting university design competitions and being part of a committee for supporting innovation within the VT industry.
